చేతినిండా పని, మనసునిండా తగిన ఆలోచనలు... ఈ రెండూ మనిషి ప్రగతి రథానికి రెండు చక్రాలు. పనిలేక పోవడం వలన నిరాసక్తత ఏర్పడుతుంది. అలాంటివారిలో నిర్లిప్తత చోటు చేసుకుంటుంది. ఆ నిర్లిప్తత వల్ల ఎన్నో అనర్థాలు. అందుకే 'పనిలేనివాడి బుర్ర దయ్యాల నిలయం' అనే నానుడి పుట్టింది.
ఎల్లప్పుడూ పని చెయ్యడానికి అలవాటు పడిన శరీరం చురుకుగా ఉంటుంది. మెదడూ ఉత్సాహం పుంజుకొంటుంది. శరీరాన్ని శ్రమ పెట్టకుండా సుఖాలు కల్పిద్దామని విశ్రాంతినిచ్చామో... శరీరం, మనసు రెండూ రోగగ్రస్తం కావడం మొదలు పెడతాయి.
చైతన్యపురంలో కృషీవలుడు అనే రైతు ఉండేవాడు. అతడికి ఉన్నది కొద్దిపాటి భూమి. అందులోనే నిరంతర కృషితో అత్యధిక ఫలసాయం పొందుతూ ఉండేవాడు. అతడు విశ్రాంతిగా ఒక్కరోజైనా కూర్చునేవాడు కాదు.
ఒకసారి అతడు పొలం దున్నుతూ ఉండగా అటు వెళుతున్న ఆ ప్రాంత జమీందారు చూశాడు.
అది నడివేసవి కాలం. కృషీవలుడి గురించి, అతడి విజయాల గురించి అంతకుముందే విన్నాడతను. ప్రత్యక్షంగా తెలుసుకోవాలని ఎన్నాళ్ళనుంచో అనుకుంటున్నాడు. ఇన్నాళ్ళకు ఇలా అవకాశం దొరికింది అనుకుంటూ- బండి ఆపించి దిగి అతడి దగ్గరకు వెళ్ళాడు.
పరస్పర పరిచయాలు అయ్యాక 'ఇంత ఎండలో పనిచెయ్యకపోతేనేం?... ఇది పంట పండే కాలం కూడా కాదాయె. ఇప్పుడెందు కింత శ్రమపడి పనిచెయ్యడం?' అన్నాడు జమీందారు.
ఆ మాటకు జవాబుగా కృషీవలుడు 'పండే కాలం కాదని మనం అనుకుంటున్నాం. భూమికి మాత్రం ఖాళీగా ఉండటం తెలియదు... దానికి తెలిసిందల్లా ఏదో ఒక మొక్కను తనలో నుంచి మొలిపించి పెంచడమే... నేను ఈ రోజు దున్నకపోయినా, విత్తులు వేయకపోయినా భూమి మాత్రం తనపని తాను చేసుకుపోతుంది. తన గర్భంలోనే ఇదివరకటి నుంచి ఉన్న ఏ రకమైన విత్తులనైనా మొలిపిస్తుంది. అలా జరిగితే నేను నిజంగా పంట వేసేవేళకు ఆ కలుపు మొక్కలతో ఎన్నో అవస్థలు పడవలసి వస్తుంది.
ఆ పొలంలాంటిదే ఈ శరీరమూ... దీనికి పని చెప్పకుండా ఖాళీగా ఉంచితే ఏవో సుఖాలు కోరుతుంది. ఆలోచనలు చెయ్యడమే సహజ గుణమైన మెదడు సైతం అనేకమైన ఇతర ఆలోచనలు చేస్తుంది. ఫలితంగా పనిచెయ్యకుండా వదిలిన పొలంలో కలుపు మొక్కలు పెరిగినట్లే నా మనోక్షేత్రంలోనూ అనవసరమైన ఆలోచనలు సాగవుతాయి. శరీరానికీ, మనసుకూ హాని చేసే ఆలోచనలు నన్ను ఎటు తీసుకెళతాయో తెలియదు. అందుకే ఈ పొలానికి కలుపు మొక్కలు పెరిగే ఆస్కారం, మనసుకు చెడు తలపులు కలిగే ఆస్కారం ఇవ్వకుండా ఈ భూమిని మెత్తగా దున్నుతున్నాను. దీనివల్ల రాబోయే వర్షకాలంలో నా పనులు అతి సులువుగా జరగడానికి ఆస్కారం ఉంటుంది' అన్నాడు. కాబట్టి- ఏ రంగంలోనైనా నైపుణ్యం సాధించాలంటే నిరంతర కృషి, పరిశ్రమ ఉండాలి. ఉన్నత స్థానానికి ఎదిగేవారి విజయరహస్యం ఇదే.
అందరికీ బయటకు కనిపించేది- ఎదుటివారి విజయపరంపరే. బయటకు కనబడని అంశాలు- వారి నిరంతర శ్రమ, సాధన.
పియానో వాద్యంలో ప్రపంచ ప్రసిధ్ధి పొందినవాడు పడెర్విస్కీ. అతడు కచేరీ ముగిశాక విశ్రాంతి తీసుకోకుండా మళ్ళీ కనీసం అయిదు గంటలు సాధన చేస్తూండేవాడు. అది చూసిన మిత్రుడొకడు 'నువ్వు ఇంత చక్కగా కచేరీ చేస్తున్నావు. అదీ కాక ఇంచుమించు ప్రతిరోజూ కచేరీ ఉంటూనే ఉంది. అయినా ఇంకా సాధన ఎందుకు?' అని అడిగాడు.
ఆ మాట విన్న పడెర్విస్కీ 'నేను ఒక్కరోజు సాధన చెయ్యకపోతే నా సంగీత సామర్థ్యం తగ్గిపోయిందని నాకు తెలిసిపోతుంది. రెండు రోజులు సాధన చెయ్యకపోతే తోటి విద్వాంసులు గుర్తించేస్తారు. వరసగా మూడు రోజులు సాధన చెయ్యకపోతే, నా సంగీత అభిమానులంతా నా సామర్థ్యం తగ్గినట్లు గుర్తిస్తారు. కళ పట్టుబడటం ఒకెత్తు. దాన్ని నిలబెట్టుకోవడం మరొకెత్తు. ఈ రెండింటికీ నిరంతర పరిశ్రమే ప్రధానం. అది లేకపోతే మనసు ఖాళీగా కూర్చోదు. మరొక పనిలో పడుతుంది. అప్పుడు అసలు పని సరిగ్గా చేయలేని పరిస్థితి ఏర్పడుతుంది. ఆ స్థితి మనం కోరి తెచ్చుకోకూడదు. దానికోసం నిరంతరం సాధన, కృషి చేస్తూనే ఉండాలి. సాధనతోనే సాఫల్యం కలుగుతుంది' అన్నాడు.
